Dressing Your Hair

Let’s face it, the hair accessory trend has really taken it up a notch and it’s not going anywhere anytime soon. I could probably write an entire book on the many ways we can accessorize our hair alone, but there are some that I absolutely see as trending for the coming season. Coming back from NYFW has definitely solidified the stamp of approval in my book.

Lets break this down into my TOP 5 looks, starting with my all-time favorite.

  1. CLIP IT: Let’s face it, life is busy and sometimes we don’t have 30 plus minutes to work out a quick hair or wardrobe change. The ever-growing hair clip trend has not only expanded, but adds a playful flair to any outfit.

A woman with beautiful blonde hair wearing a handkerchief tie, adding a stylish touch to her hairstyle.

2. SCARF ME: Now I know this isn’t revolutionary, but never underestimate the power of a scarf. From wrapping an undone style to loosely knotting a pony or bun, scarves add just the right amount of friendliness to a style, without overtaking your outfit. As a bonus, switch it up into a neck scarf and rock a new outfit vibe.

For this look I pulled half the style back into a loose pony and secured the ends of the pony in the tie. I then knotted the scarf around the looped pony & presto chango!

Black hair enhanced with rhinestone clips randomly placed, creating a chic and playful look.

3. BLINGED OUT BOBBIES: Whether you’re rocking a hard-part or dressing a basic pony, rhinestone clips can dress up the drabbest of outfits. My top 3 favorite ways of using rhinestone clips is stacking, random placement, and flyaway placement.

Stacking typically looks best when placed along the hairline or across a flat surface such as a pony, bun, or along the part. Random placement is a lot like the pic you see here, and I like to place it rando-style when dressing an upstyle, and using as an accessory.

Flyaway placement is exactly what it sounds like, when you have those annoying little flyaways in an upstyle, rather than using a regular bobby-pin, throw some decor on it.

4. STATEMENT CLIPS: Do you ever create a fun style, and feel like something is missing, but you don’t want to add too much to make your style too busy? Statement clips can not only add to the entire look, but can hide mistakes or secure a loose look without taking over the style. One of my favorite ways of utilizing a statement clip is by placing right at the part-line, like this updo for instance.

5. CHOOSE YOUR OWN ADVENTURE: Create a loosely knotted stye and wind a buckle around your chignon, like the styles we created back stage for the Tanya Taylor show for NYFW. By looping a simple knot or pony through a buckle, and securing with bobby pins, you can really amp up your options right from your very own wardrobe!

The main thing is having fun and adding personality to our

Today we have so many options that we could make an entire wardrobe with hair accessories…okay, maybe that’s a little far fetched, but you get the drift.
